Cocktail Reception

6:00PM to 8:00PM

20% of the evening’s proceeds benefitted

Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation

Couture fashion designer Jackie Rogers presented her 2020 Collection for All Seasons at the private residence of Dena Weiner in Southampton, NY. The classic Hamptons home, complete with a traditional windmill, set the stage for the graceful fashion models showcasing Jackie Roger’s latest designer pieces, including beautifully draped dresses, sequined tailored jackets and separates in a multi-colored palette, and reintroducing menswear apparel with which Jackie Rogers fashion design career started.

The 2020 Collection embodies the perfect balance between classic style and modern trends, making it flexible for styling throughout the year. Jackie Rogers is well known for her timeless collections, which comprise looks ready-to-wear for all seasons. Pieces from the collection were available for purchase at the event and 20% of the evening’s proceeds benefited the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation (SASF).

Notable attendees included: Jackie Rogers, Dena Weiner, Ramona Singer, Jean Shafiroff, Ann Liguori, Sheri de Borchgrave, Sir Ivan Wilzig, Erin Gibbs, Greg D'Elia, Bruce Galloway, Jackie Kruz, Debbie Bancroft, James Marzigliano and Kate McEntee.

Fashion Designer Jackie Rogers career has run the gamut from big-band singer, Hollywood starlet, denizen of Rome’s la dolce vita in the company of princes and magnates, films for Fellini, Chanel’s favored mannequin, successful New York model, and finally, owner of an innovative Madison Avenue barbershop boutique that set that staid street of shops on its collective ear and transformed the concept of boutiques forever.

And it’s just that zest for both life and the experiences it offers that gives JACKIE ROGERS her extraordinarily sophisticated point of view, a view which she transforms into couture designs for some of the worlds most fashionable and demanding women. Rogers has great personal style and even more to the point, a unique ability to transfer that style to her clients. It’s a feat that has made her the favored couturier for some of the greatest names in New York and international society, as well as the world of film and theater.

She was discovered and pressed into runway action by the most renowned couturiers of Rome, including Simonetta and Fabiani. Her madcap lifestyle inspired Fellini to write a part for her into his film “8 ½” and gave her the line of the film” “You’re finished, you’ve got nothing left to say.”

A shopping excursion to Paris changed all that and the direction of her life, forever. JACKIE ROGERS bought her first Chanel suit (“around $600”) and as she stood for the first fitting found herself thinking, “It would be nice to work here.” Upon hearing that Chanel needed models she quickly lined up an interview, “Chanel liked me, hired me on the spot and paid me top dollar.” Rogers left the prince and la dolce vita behind to pursue her dream. Her contract with Chanel was for one year.

At the end of the period, Chanel insisted that she remain. For JACKIE ROGERS, one thing was important: that she work with “Mademoiselle” on the collection. Surprisingly, Chanel agreed and Rogers remained at the House of Chanel, absorbing the style and techniques of her mentor. “It was the greatest experience of my life. I never realized what an effect she had on me.” The effect was to prove lasting.

But Jackie was eager to get home to begin her own career. Against Chanel’s protestations, she returned to New York and her modeling and television work while she investigated the fashion possibilities. “One day I was getting my hair cut at Vidal Sassoon,” she says, “when my hairdresser informed me he was cutting the hair of 250 guys a week at night! Great! I suggested, we get together and work out of my apartment. “He’d cut hair, I’d sell Ken Scott’sincredible men’s shirts”…they were all the rage there in the Sixties.

It was the beginning of a revolutionary concept in merchandising, a barbershop boutique which mushroomed into a Madison Avenue shop proudly displaying the banner, “Jackie Rogers for Men”. The first of-its-kind, it created a whirlwind of publicity and attracted some of the most stellar names of the day: Peter O’Toole, Winthrop Rockefeller, Jack Nicholson, Michael Douglas and Woody Allen. Quickly expanding on her brilliant and innovative idea, Jackie began designing fashionable men’s clothes. It became the meeting place of the rich and famous from both coasts and soon the women followed.

Lee Radziwell discovered Jackie and soon brought her sister, Jackie Onassis. Jackie’s following today includes some of the most recognized women in entertainment, politics and finance. Jackie’s cliental includes; Julianne Moore, Condaleeza Rice, Roberta Flack, Nicole Kidman, Gwyenth Paltrow, Salma Hayek, Courtney Love and more.

“I’m the only designer today who ever worked with the great Coco Chanel,” says Rogers. “From her I learned that fashion doesn’t start with design. Everything comes from fabrication.” Working just as Chanel did, with the fabric, (“Chanel never sketched; I don’t either.”),JACKIE ROGERS molds and contours the fabric until a shape emerges. “It’s like sculpting,” she explains.

“Restricting a piece to its design holds back on what should and could, be developed. I go the way the fabric goes. That involves draping the cloth on a mannequin to get line and feeling. From that point the design develops, sometimes spinning off into a dozen different versions. My clothes are always simple. I take away, rather than add, more and more women are finding they don’t want their clothes wearing them. My clothes are season-less, I can not be defined by the season.” says Jackie Rogers. Rogers loves fabrics with texture, such as charmeuse, crepe, and chiffon. JACKIE ROGERS’ customers are addicted to the complicated simplicity of her design; designs that are a complete couture, refined, soft-spoken, elegant, enigmatic, with the dash and daring of a uk designer who knows her craft and has no fear of standing on the cutting edge of style.

As mentioned 2o percent of the sales from the event benefitted The Southampton Animal Shelter.

The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that relies on the caring generosity of our donors and volunteers to care to for the homeless animals in our community, and place them in loving “forever homes.” The number of animals in need of our help is growing every day. The overpopulation of pets on Long Island is a major issue and sadly more amazing animals are ending up homeless. Whether caring for strays found wandering the streets, rescuing neglected and abandoned animals, or saving dogs from the horrors of the puppy mill industry, the shelter is a safe haven for all animals and for some, a last resort. Without SASF, these animals would not be able to survive. The shelter provides a stepping stone for animals to find a loving home. It offers them housing, food, medical treatment, training, and rehabilitation when necessary.

SASF is a 501(3)(c) non-profit organization that relies on the generosity of its donors and volunteers. Your support makes all of this possible and together we can help save more lives!

“A WORLD OF PINK” GALA & FASHION SHOW

Hosted by  Victoria's Secret Angel LINDSAY ELLINGSON Co-Founder of Wander Beauty to Crown Breast Cancer Survivors.

New York Jets Wide Receiver Quincy Enunwa hosted the Second Annual “A World of Pink” Gala & Fashion Show on Monday, October 29th at Watermill Caterers, 711 Smithtown Bypass, Smithtown, NY. Lindsay Ellingson, Victoria’s Secret Angel & Founder of Wander Beauty did crown AWOP Breast Cancer Survivors. Famous Pop Artist Charles Bruce Beck Emceed.

The Gala included cocktail reception, open bar, banquet dinner, DJ, live entertainment, raffles, parade of survivors and their surgeons, and an exclusive Fashion Show featuring breast cancer survivors.

A World of Pink is a health facility founded and dedicated to meeting the needs of all women in all phases of breast aftercare.

Through the use of proper bra fittings and breast prostheses, Christine and her team of certified fitters provide women who are facing breast reconstruction or removal due to breast cancer with profound and deserved confidence.

Inspired by friends, family, and a desire to help all women, we are proud to offer A World of Pink in search of a world of beauty, balance, and healing hearts.

Christine A. Guarino, RDH, CMF, CFm, founded A World of Pink in 2015 with a mission to restore confidence for women following breast surgery. A World of Pink provides beautiful, comfortable pocketed bras that are supportive and help in healing, as well as top-quality breast prostheses that match a patient's skin tone and lifestyle. Best of all, A World of Pink works with most insurance companies (including Medicare) to help minimize, if not eliminate, any out-of-pocket costs for their patients.

Christine is certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics (A.B.C.) and the Board for Certification/ Accreditation (B.O.C.). She is also a Cerified Lymphedema Fitter as well as the lead mastectomy fitter at A World of Pink.

Christine works diligently to ensure a comfortable and friendly environment for all her patients. Each patient is measured and fit with the proper supportive bra and prostheses that help to restore a sense of self-pride, confidence, and balance.

I also had chance to speak to Super Model Lindsay Ellingson.

Lindsay is a world-renowned Supermodel and Victoria's Secret Angel. Although she is not a survivor, Lindsay, much like A World of Pink, feels strongly about improving the lives of those affected by breast cancer. Lindsay has modeled for Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Proenza Schoulder, Valentino, Christian Dior, and of course, is an Angel for Victoria's Secret, amongst others. Lindsay is also the co-founder of Wander Beauty, the first travel-inspired, luxury color cosmetics products of high performance and cruelty free formulas that keep you looking gorgeous on the go! Wander Beauty was the recipient of the 2017 Oprah Magazine Fall Beauty Award.

A World of Pink has made it their mission to provide women with the opportunity to regain their confidence, breast symmetry, and positive body image. Through the use of breast prostheses and beautiful supportive bras, we are helping women one fitting at at time.

It is common for some women to lose confidence following lumpectomy, mastectomy, or other breast procedures. For many, breast reconstruction may be out of reach or undesired, but that doesn't mean that asymmetrical breasts are a permanent tribulation. Prostheses can act like a bridge for more permanent solutions during any reconstructive process. We proudly offer prostheses in a spectrum of shades to match your skin tone.

This group has come together to create and sustain a supportive network for women affected by breast, ovarian and uterine cancers. The organization focuses on early detection and empowerment to bring about better health care and an improved quality of life.

Stacy was named "2011 Woman of the Year" by The East End Women's Network.

TV Host Cognac Wellerlane interviews Fashion Designer and Editor of PopImpressKA Journal The Baroness Olga Papkovitch

Members of the press, fashionistas, royalty and New York City Society gathered together on Thursday January 25th for PopImpressKA Art Couture by Baroness Olga Papkovitch to present a benefit to help the relief efforts for Puerto Rico. The event took place from 6:00pm-10:00pm at the Manhattan Art and Antiques Center, 1050 2nd Ave (between 55th and 56th streets), two floors surrounded by priceless museum antiques and art objects.

The event featured a full fledge fashion show. Performance by musical artist Roberto Vazquez managed by Fernando Bernierd. Celebrities walking the runway include: Dominican music personality Ralph Joseph, BMI Recording Artist/Singer/Songwriter Dazz Letellier, Midori Amae, DCW50’s America’s Next Top Model Fan Favorite and Miss Black Virginia USA, Internet Personality and Model Elida Loci, Russian Supermodel and TV personality Irina Dmitrakova and Alexandra Lee, PopImpressKA Journal & Art Couture Spokesmodel Popimpresska.

Fashion Celebrity Designers Michel Altieri and Genevieve Laurent of “Laurent & Altieri” made cameo appearances in the show.  Stage Actress Cindy Marinangel completely embodied the spirit of Marlene Dietrich, the brave German actress who was known both for her sultry femme fatal and her outspoken political views attended the event.

Before the fashion show I was introduced by Actor Errol Rappaport to Cindy Marinangel.  Ms. Marinangel was happy to sit down with me and talk about her one woman Show "Marlene" which tells the true story of German and Hollywood Movie Star Marlene Dietrich.   In May, 1960, Dietrich returned to Germany to perform on stage for the first time since fleeing the Hitler regime in 1939.  Set in Dietrich's dressing room at Berlin's Tatiana Palast Theatre, she tries to decide whether she should go through with the recital as threats have been made on her life by Nazi sympathizers.

Cindy was born to perform and did everything from stage plays, musicals and dance shows to cheerleading and poms in her native Chicagoland area.  She has been playing leading roles since Kindergarten, (where she first exhibited her outstanding memory by literally mouthing all of her fellow actor's lines.)

Fast forward to Chicago's Piper Alley where she landed her first Chicago audition for the long-running show "Tony & Tina's Wedding".  Initially cast in the most basic of roles, her caustic wit and Second City training caught the attention of producers and led to her playing Tina.  She later reprised her roles both in Las Vegas and in the Tony & Tina's Off-Broadway tour.  Several other shows followed garnishing excellent reviews.

Hollywood soon beckoned and it wasn't long before she began landing film roles. Cindy has starred opposite Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst and Tim Bagley.  She has had leading roles in both short and full-length features that have run the festival circuits.

Cindy has also been breaking into television both in the acting and hosting arenas. She was honored to portray Princess Di in Lee Major's "Forbidden Secrets", and has landed leading roles in several pilots. A natural dancer and choreographer, she has utilized her talents in several music videos as well.

As a great lover of action, Cindy is an accomplished snow and water skier.  She is a hard-hitting, left-handed first basewoman for her softball team and does everything from salsa and tango to belly dancing for fun.

Cindy's husky voice has been utilized for numerous voice-over spots.  Her adeptness for both comedy and drama has ensured her casting versatility, and her enthusiasm for "The Biz" is contagious. Cindy intends to be acting when she's eighty!
