I was happy to cover Anthony's Live Echoes of Eagle Tribute Band and Jay Gates Rod Stewart Impersonator on Friday April 19, 2024 at the hottest music venue on Long Island located at Windows on the Lake.

During the evening I interviewed Band Leader Kevin Hawkins from the  Echoes of Eagle Tribute Band.

Kevin is  also Bassist, songwriter, co- producer for multi-award winning country rock band Quickdraw with 3 albums released and has toured nationally, opening for acts including Charlie Daniels Band, Marshall Tucker Band, Blake Shelton, Gretchen Wilson, Dierks Bentley just to name a few.

For more information please visit https://echoesoftheeagles.com/.

I was also happy to interview Rod Stewart Impersonator Jay Gates.

Oh sure, every Rod Stewart impersonator has the haircut, shoes, and clothes . . . some even have the voice and moves.  But in addition to all of that, Jay has something the other Rod Stewart look-alikes will never have.  He’s got the nose . . . HE’S GOT THE NOSE!  As Rod himself would sing, some guys have all the luck.

Armed with a repertoire of over forty hits, dressed to the nines in full Rod regalia, and belting it out with a raspy four octave range, Jay consistently brings it on and dares any audience anywhere to leave his performances unhappy.  Fun is had by all and it is always a jolly good time indeed!

Be it with a dynamic four-piece band, alone with backing tracks, or any combination in-between, Jay astonishingly recreates all phases of Rod’s award winning career from his early days with the Jeff Beck Group and Faces right through to his current residency at Caesars Palace Las Vegas.

From the majesty of a full blown rock concert to the intimacy of a private party, Jay’s ability to connect with any audience has made his Boston-based Rod Stewart Tribute a top choice among event planners, booking agents, and music lovers from New England to England . . . make him yours too!

Dining at San Pietro NYC "The best and most authentic Italian restaurant outside of Italy"

San Pietro NYC Ristorante

This past weekend I interviewed Owner, Founder and President Gerardo Bruno of Pan Pietro Ristorante in Midtown Manhattan off of one the most glamorous streets in Manhattan.

Welcome to the Awards Winning San Pietro Restaurant, proclaimed by the Italian government, media, and culinary organization as "The best and most authentic Italian restaurant outside of Italy".

We believe in wisdom of "Nourishing Body and Soul" derived from our Salerno ancestors from Southern Italy. We import 85% of our ingredients from provinces of Campania, Sicilia, Sardinia and Puglia, and we advocate a healthy, well-balanced diet, regular exercise, and low-stress lifestyle.

The restaurant promises EXCEPTIONAL FOOD, AMBIANCE AND SERVICE!

Since its opening in 1992, San Pietro restaurant has been the landmark restaurant in Manhattan, renowned for the healthy, vivacious cuisine of the Amalfi Coast in Southern Italy.

With food that promotes longevity and nourishes the soul, San Pietro's menu offers a dazzling combination of sea and pristine farmland, with great selection of exquisite food, such as sea bass, earthy treasures of eggplants, risottos, black truffles, homemade pasta, peppers, tomatoes, and unique delicacies like the treasured mozzarella di bufala.

San Pietro's elite corporate clientele attests on a daily basis to the warmly European values and sensibilities that San Pietro team continuously brings to its restaurant: a celebration of the simple, unadorned treasures of nature, maintaining the highest service standards possible, and treating guests like family.

The artwork of San Pietro’s dining room has been described as “the dining room in New York with the most atmosphere” by the New York Post. San Pietro’s newly modernized scenographic ceiling, the work of the architect Dante O. Benini, depicts a photograph of the sea at Sorrento’s sunset and gives to the venue an entirely greater visual and chromatic intensity. It was created by laser-cutting panels and its coating in a 18-carat gold leaf. Additional effect to the light is given through Swarovski crystal balls of various sizes with direct and indirect glows and refractions.

San Pietro menu embodies the the flavor of culture of our home town, Salerno, and it includes many favorite recipes of Antonio, our brother, who remained faithful to his Italian tradition, and always refused foreign influences in his cooking. He used only basic ingredients and fresh seasonal products, and In each dish he applied his vast culinary knowledge gained from his cook masters in Italy, with whom he always used to stay in touch.

Today we thank our brother for safeguarding our traditional flavors

and for teaching us that it is possible to be successful by remaining true to one's self. Also, we would like to thank him for being tough on all of us, and for never letting us be afraid to stand our ground. Grazie Antonio!

Our menu is dedicated to our brotherAntonio, executive Chef and owner of an Pietro for 21 years, who sadly passed away in 2013.

Dining at Neary's Pub is a New York Tradition

TV Host Cognac Wellerlane interviews Executive Chef Gus, Una Neary and Owner Jimmy Neary at Neary's Pub on 57th Street and 1st Avenue in Manhattan.

Diners enjoy The Lamb Chops which is a Signature Dish at Neary's Pub.

TV Host Cognac Wellerlane interviews Executive Chef Gus, Una Neary and Owner Jimmy Neary at Neary's Pub on 57th Street and 1st Avenue in Manhattan.

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of dining with Restaurant Owner James Neary, best known to his pals as Jimmy, at Neary's Restaurant located at 358 E. 57th Street, New York, NY.

Neary's opened on St. Patrick's Day 1967 and proudly remains one of the most well-known Irish restaurants in New York. The restaurant is often referred to as the "Irish 21." Jimmy Neary, New York's finest host, welcomes everyone in the door with his great Irish smile and charming personality. Each night Jimmy is joined by members of his family and his long-tenured staff to ensure that every customer feels like they are part of the family.

Neary's signature dishes include lamb chops, prime rib of beef, corned beef and cabbage and broiled 1/2 chicken. In addition, there is a fine selection of daily delivered fresh fish.

The staff at Neary's looks forward to taking care of you and sharing  their special home with you.

I sat down with Executive Chef Gus who revealed The signature appetizers at the restaurant, "We have Corn Beef, Irish Smoked Salmon, Marinated Herring, Shrimp Cocktail is also a must. We also have a whole bunch of salads...basically the three major items are Irish Smoked Salmon, Shrimp Cocktail and Sliced Corn Beef. When I came for the interview with Jimmy, one of his requests was to keep an old fashioned traditional menu...nothing fancy around here just be consistant with traditional good food."

When asked what was his favorite dish at the restaurant Chef Gus replied, "OMG you can't go wrong with the Lamb Chops...the quality of meat that you get..we get all our meat from Colorado. It is my understanding that Colorado has the best lamb and it has been traditionally cooked the same for fifty years here. The Lamb Chops is also a favorite dish of Celebrity Cathy Lee Gifford who also has her own booth in the restaurant."

Another popular sish is the Corn Beef and Cabbage especially in St. Patrick's Day. "On St. Patrick's Day I cook 50 cases of Corn Beef just for that particular day," revealed Chef Gus.

I also sat down with Jimmy the owner as he fondly talked about his restaurant. He revealed that in 1967 he put a down payment of $500 with his partner Bartender Brian Mullligan to secure the location and purchased it for $30,000

which took five years to pay off.

Jimmy also revealed a fascinating story that on one New Years Eve four years ago President Clinton patronized the restaurant, "At 20 past twelve I locked the door on New Years Eve this way I can control who is coming here and 20 past twelve looking in the window...the door was locked...President Clinton, Hillary, Secretary of State, Mayor Bloomberg, Diane and Commissioner Kelly and his wife came in for dinner and about 12:30 twelve more people came to join their party...and I had no tables left. All of my customers got up to let them sit down, they had the whole side of the restaurand they left at 4:00 am in the morning," revealed Jimmy.

Neary's dining area is always filled to capacity for lunch and dinner, and whose regular patrons include Michael Bloomberg (who by way of his private jet once flew Neary to his town of birth in Ireland),  famous Author Mary Higgins Clark (who has found a way of integrating Neary as a character and his bar as a location into many of her novels), Cathy Lee Gifford, Jean Kennedy Smith and Cardinal Dolan.

When asked what his favorite dish at the restaurant is, Jim replied, "I love Turkey, Fish and a good Hamburger."

Having completed a recent renovation in May of 2017 with a fresh perspective, their renowned photo art collection, and a commitment to eco-friendly practices, the hotel welcomes chic out-of-towners and locals alike. The new hotel design features an updated, whimsical take on the traditional Americana and Hamptons aesthetics that are reflected in the shared spaces throughout, including the pink sun room, art bar and new take on a classic lounge. HISTORY

More than 150 years old, the Greek Revival at 207 Main Street has served many owners, each in a unique way suited to the era.

Constructed just before the Civil War by the Osborne family, the current structure has foundations dating from the 17th century. For much of the 19th century, the building was used as a tannery, and first took in overnight guests while their saddles were being repaired.

In the mid-1920s, the home began service as a full-time inn and became known as The Maidstone Arms. Newspaper columns in the ensuing decades announced the seasonal residency of a rotating roster of socialites, and the inn became a fashionable destination as East Hampton grew into a world-famous summer colony.

In 2008 the inn was purchased by Swedish hotelier Jenny Baker, and now welcomes discerning travelers at The Maidstone.

Red Peony is the inspiration and invention of Connie Zhang, who started her quest in the United States when she was only twelve years old. Connie established her first New York restaurant Royal Queen located in the heart of Flushing in 2014.

Red Peony is an elegant high end, glamorous contemporary Chinese restaurant in Midtown, Manhattan, specializing in elegant Shanghai cuisine (also known as Benbang cuisine) with selections of versatile Sichuan and Cantonese dishes. The name Red Peony alludes to the national flower of the country of China which is also known as "the king of the flowers". The balcony or second floor of the restaurant has seventy five seatings. The elegant and lavish interior decor of the restaurant transfers diners back to Old Shanghai in the 1910s with European red velvet chairs and silk drapes.which was the fashion at the time.

The authentic cuisine that Red Peony is famous for serves is Shanghainese-centric accompanied by other classic Chinese dishes to their discerning customers. The menu includes many Shanghainese home-style dishes such as Shanghai Spring Rolls, Smoked Fish, and Shanghai Bean Curd. The kitchen is ran by the former kitchen employees from Joe's Shanghai. Restaurateur Zach Erdem Transforms a Hamptons Staple into a Year-Round Hotspot

Rising restaurateur Zach Erdem has gained considerable attention in the hospitality industry after transforming a seasonal Hamptons dining staple into a year-round hotspot. The dynamic 32-year-old has used his unique design to balance the classic style of the Hamptons with the enticing elements of New York City nightlife to reinvent the Southampton eatery, 75 Main. The ever popular restaurant and lounge has become a favorite among locals, visitors and celebrities alike, attracting Hollywood’s A-Listers and politicians such as Sarah Jessica Parker, LA Reid, Kelly Ripa, Stanley Tucci, Sofia Vergara, Howard Stern, Pierce Brosnan, Barbara Walters, Jodie Foster, Alex Rodriquez and Vice President Joe Biden.

Erdem’s esteemed reputation in the restaurant industry was not established overnight. After moving from Europa to the United States in 2002, Erdem was struggling to make a living and had planned to move back home after just six months. With only sixty dollars in his pocket—which was loaned to him by a friend—Erdem decided to take a quick trip to the Hamptons two days before his scheduled flight. After arriving at the East End, he ordered lunch at the first restaurant he saw—75 Main.

Erdem quickly befriended 75 Main’s General Manager, who offered him a bartending position on the spot. Impressed by the Hamptons and its reputation, Erdem ultimately strived to create a name for himself in this elite community. In the years that followed, Erdem traveled all over the country, working in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Miami, gaining insight into the continuously changing restaurant business. Erdem eventually returned to Southampton to manage the popular Nello Summertimes and brought his experience to bear.

In May 2010, Erdem was finally able to fulfill his dream of taking ownership of 75 Main—a dream that was born over nine years earlier on the beaches of the East End. Using a combination of an expertly crafted menu, sophisticated decor, and post-dinner entertainment, Erdem is taking the already established restaurant to the next level. Erdem collaborated with well-known and award winning chefs, artists, designers and D.J.’s, revamping 75 Main into one of the Hamptons popular destinations for high-end fare, ambiance and nightlife scene.

After his success in the Hamptons, Erdem searched for the perfect location to open a second restaurant. In April 12 2012, Zach Erdem took his talents down to South Florida and opened 75 Main in Delray Beach, Florida. Drawn to the charming seaside community's vibrant mix of dining, shopping, and cultural amenities, Erdem found this venue to be as thriving as the original 75 Main. 75 Main Delray has already gained a celebrity following with the likes of actor and comedian Kevin James and retired Hall of Fame basketball player Dennis Rodman, michael Jordan.

In the future, Erdem hopes to expend his reach, opening additional restaurants in some of the world’s most renowned locations.

Blue Mar Restaurant is his latest challenge only steps away from his first restaurant in Southampton, 75 Main.

Dining at this Turkish treasure and I mean treasure was truly an edible experience and a fabulous delight. Don't let the narrow passage way fool you the food is is fit for an extravagant sultan in a lavish middle eastern palace.

The ammbiance is cozy, cool vibes mixed with authentic Turkish accents. Take a look at the beautiful red- orange ceiling with intricate multidimensional decorations. Throughout the walls you'll see decorated with beautiful glass shades with unique colors, shaped like teardrops.

What a spectacular Turkish food experience! I really loved the Borek to start and the Garlic Chicken came out in the perfect portion and it’s savory seasons paired perfectly with the Sauvignon Blanc . Service was spot on and friendly. I’ll definitely be back.

Max Png

No complaints- reasonable portions, reasonable prices and a good selection of turkish food

Quaint restaurant located on the upper east side. Great food, good service, and peaceful atmosphere. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend.

Necator Nimrod

love it love it love it

Such warm, friendly atmosphere. Food is wonderful… oh and the bread they bring you… so amazing. Waitresses are very friendly and accommodating. The guys who do the cooking (I think it is mostly guys, but I may be mistaken, in that case please forgive me) take lots of pride in their creations, and are a delight to talk to. I first went here after reading a review on Yelp, and have been back several times, even brought here my colleagues and a applicants we were interviewing for some new positions. They enjoyed it as well. Come here, you definitely won’t regret it!!! Oh, and yes, there are both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes available.

We have eaten here quite a few years, and each time, lunch or dinner, we have been very pleased with the cuisine, low-key atmosphere, and top-notch service of the small staff. We are always made to feel welcome, and at lunch the chef himself often also serves as waiter and is as kind and patient as he can be. For excellent value, superior cooking, and a clean, neat milieu, Uskudar is hard to beat.

Nice place for Turkish food, restaurant is a bit small.

Mike Zollner

Good place for lamb made how you like. Service was nice and they were kind enough to give me vegetables instead of rice. They even make their own bread and hot sauce.

I went to Uskudar for a birthday dinner on a groupon purchase. What a comfortable little spot!!! It’s always nice to find the tiny gems! The place is very clean and service is quick!!! …More

Not your usual kebob joint, with unusual savory dishes. The Chicken Artichoke is a particular favorite–how do they infuse chicken with such a strong artichoke flavor? Small and intimate, can be a bit loud when it’s crowded.

Lee Goldberg

Amazing food. Absolutely delicious pide bread and lentil soup. Great for delivery – food always arrives quickly.

I’ve always loved Turkish cuisine especially after visiting Istanbul. I recommend for those who haven’t to do so but that is for another website. This small cute restaurant on the UES was our destination after an event in the neighborhood. We went for the stuffed grape leaves and Ciger (liver) to start. Both were very good. As for entrée Chicken Adana and Hunkar Begendi(lamb) was both delicious. The chicken on the skewer was moist and tender and seasoned nicely. The lamb in a stew of eggplant and tomatoes was hearty and flavorful. We’ll be returning if we are ever in the neighborhood and wanting a good Turkish meal. Heck, might just buy a ticket on Turkish Air.

TV Host Cognac Wellerlane interviews Executive Chef and Co-creator Anthony Carron at 800 Degrees

800° Woodfired Kitchen is Anthony Carron’s chef-inspired and innovative take on the art of cooking with wood fire. Their entire menu is woodfired to perfection, infusing each item with just the right amount of smokiness. The restaurant starts with the highest-quality ingredients, scratch dough, fresh produce and artisan-quality meats and cheeses, and they create an offering as authentic and delicious as it is remarkably diverse. The result is craveable and irresistibly delicious craft pizza, rotisserie meats, salads, bowls, veggies and more. Taste the magic of woodfired!

My take on this incredible restaurant group with locations all around the world, 800 Degrees is kind of like the Chipotle for pizza -- you choose the ingredients for your pizza and then the pie is cooked under two minutes in an insanely hot (800 degrees!) oven. The pies are satisfying, the service fast, and the ingredients top-notch. Speciality pies and gluten-free crust is also available, so really, the choice is yours.

My favorite is the pie with the cauliflower crust, yum!
